Prepaid Credit Cards

Compare best prepaid card deals

Prepaid cards work like a normal MasterCard, accepted at 29 million outlets worldwide and by most ATMs, but without the usual credit or background checks. It is unlikely, therefore, that you would be rejected if you apply for one.

Prepaid cards are similar to pay-as-you-go phones in that you cannot spend more than the value loaded on to the card in advance. There is no contract and no need for a bank account. The value carried on the card may be restricted.

Cards can be topped up at the same outlets as mobile phones, or by bank transfer. You can keep track of your balance online, by phone or by text.

Prepaid cards may be your only option if you have been refused a credit card. There is security in knowing that you can never spend more than the money on your card.
